Who is StopDrink Network?

Answer: StopDrink Network is a non-profit and non-governmental organization sponsored by Thai Health Promotion Foundation. To reduce alcohol consumption, we worked with various partners and NGOs in Thailand to organize and implement alcohol-free campaigns throughout the country. In addition, we work with international organizations to reduce alcohol consumption in the regional and global levels.


How does StopDrink Network structure?

Answer: StopDrink Network is organized to work closely with community groups to strategize, plan and provide supports in implementing alcohol-free campaigns. With that in mind, our team members perform as:
   - Field coordinator working with local communities throughout all four regions of Thailand.
   - Media Coordinator managing TV commercial projects and campaign kits.
   - Academic Coordinator working with other institutions and organizations on study, research, survey and poll.
   - International Collaborating Center working with international partners on information exchange, cooperative projects and persuading an effective policy at regional and global levels.


Who does StopDrink Network work with?

Answer: StopDrink Network works with organizations and NGOs who share common goal in reducing alcohol consumption. We work with both local and international partners. For more detail, please visit our Partner page.

What are your current campaigns and how can I find more information?

Answer:We are working on several campaigns: Alcohol-Free Celebrations, Anti-Alcohol campaign for specific targeted group, Alcohol-Free Zone, Public Policy Campaign, and Treatment and Rehabilitation Campaign. Please visit our Campaigns and News and Events for more information.


How would you evaluate the effectiveness of your campaign?

Answer:We are working with a third party institution such as public and private universities in conducting a survey and poll after implementing major campaigns such as Alcohol-Free Celebrations during the major holidays such as New Year and Songkran.

What is the current alcohol law in Thailand?

Answer:The following is the summary of the current Alcohol Control laws in Thailand. For additional information, please visit Publication Section.
  • * The minimum alcohol purchasing age is 20 years old.
  • * Selling alcohol to an intoxicated person is prohibited.
  • * Warning label on all alcoholic containers is required.
  • * Restrictions on promotional techniques and advertising practices for all alcoholic beverages are applied.
  • * Selling alcohol in the following area is prohibited: temples and religious places, hospitals, medical clinics and drug stores, governmental properties (except the areas set as shops or clubhouses), dormitories, educational institutions, gas stations, public parks and other places as specified in the ministerial announcement.
  • * Selling alcohol is prohibited on the date or time as specified in the ministerial announcement.
  • * It is prohibited to sell alcoholic beverages through a vending machine and peddler and through special promotion as specified in the ministerial announcement.
  • * Consuming alcohol in the following areas is prohibited: temples and other religious area, hospitals and medical clinics and drug stores, governmental properties (except area set up as personal housing, clubhouses, and in traditional party), educational institutions (except area set up as personal housing, clubhouses, traditional party and bartending school), gas stations, public parks and other places as specified in the ministerial announcement.
