Alcohol Sale Ban on Buddhist Days in Thailand

As of June 30, 2009, selling alcohol beverages is banned on four major Buddhist days in Thailand: Makabucha, Visakabucha, Asarnrahabucha, and the first day of Buddhist Lent. The ban is excluded alcohol beverage sale in hotels. If violated, the panalty includes a fine of 10,000 Baht and/or 6 month prison term.
